Ceremonial opening of the Clinical Research Development Centre in Military Institute of Medicine

On 27 January of this year, we officially opened the activities of the Center for Clinical Research – a new cell of the Military Institute of Medicine dedicated to the realization of commercial and non-commercial clinical studies, founded as part of a project funded by the Medical Research Agency.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Medical Research Agancy (MRA) - MD. PhD. Radosław Sierpiński, the Director of the Centre for Clinical Research MRA Agnieszka Ryniec, the Deputy Director of the Innovation Department MON Colonel Jacek Najs, the Director of the Uniform Services Department of the National Health Fund Arkadiusz Kosowski and invited guests. Guests share.

- The strategic direction of the scientific development of the Military Institute of Medicine is to create complete structures for translational medicine that “translates” the results of basic research into improving people’s health and quality of life. I am confident that this will enable us to successfully and efficiently implement our project and the objectives we have set ourselves in the coming years”, said the Director of the Military Institute of Medicine, General Prof. Grzegorz Gielerak.

The President of Medical Research Agancy - MD. PhD. Radosław Sierpiński, stressed during his speech the necessity and importance of conducting clinical trials. If we imagine a pyramid of needs, a Maslow pyramid, when it comes to health care, then it is probably basic care that is most important. Later, the next element would certainly be the quality of health care. That is what we are fighting for in Poland and what should undoubtedly be at the top of this pyramid. Scientific and clinical studies are an integral part of a modern healthcare system. This pyramid here at the institute is starting to exist, and I’m very pleased about that. I hope that we will be able to open more centres in the coming months and that you will be an important part of the Polish Clinical Trials Support Centres.

With the establishment of the Polish Clinical Trials Support Centres, the Military Medical Institute gains new competencies in the field of non-commercial clinical research – we have established and will further develop a Medical Science Department and a Research Coordination and Quality Control Department. Thus, The Military Institute of Medicine is moving towards a model for the conduct of non-commercial clinical trials that is based solely on its own employees, without commissioning external CRO companies. We are convinced that the introduction of the Clinical Research Development Centre of the Military Institute of Medicine will benefit not only the institute, but also the Polish scientific community and, above all, our patients, who will gain wider access to innovative therapies”, said MD. PhD. Bartłomiej Kisiel, Director of the Center for Clinical Research.
