Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (IHTM) is a nationally renowned clinical and healthcare research facility. The Institute’s statutory functions include scientific research and development in haematology, transfusion therapy and related disciplines, and its primary therapeutic focus is treating patients with blood cancers. The Oncology Clinical Trials Support Centre (OncoCTSC-IHTM) will make it possible to carry out translational research in patient treatment, advance the progress of medical science and boost the innovative potential of Polish medicine. The planned activities are expected to improve treatment efficacy and promote Polish contributions to new therapy standards.
Principal advantages:
- Between 2016 and 2020, the Institute was involved in a total of 78 commercial and 7 non-commercial trials.
- Treatment and research operations are divided between 5 clinics and 7 diagnostic and research laboratories.
- With the acquisition of new IT systems, the management of the site and its commercial and non-commercial trial portfolio will become more cost-efficient and organised, eliminating the risk of the same procedure being double-financed by the sponsor and the National Health Fund.
