Medical University of Silesia
The Clinical Research Support Center of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice is being established by a consortium of Medical University of Silesia in Katowice and two clinical hospitals: Leszek Giec Upper-Silesian Medical Centre of the Medical University of Silesia and University Clinical Center of prof. K. Gibiński of the Medical University of Silesia. Creating a dedicated facility staffed with top qualified professionals will cause more trials to be conducted and designed there. The new organisational structure will systematise the processes of study initiation, patient management, and evaluation of research ideas. There will be one contact point at the Centre level, responsible for communicating with sponsors as regards feasibility studies. The SCTSC will provide patients with free access to new investigational therapies, ensuring the highest possible safety of clinical trial participation and comprehensive clinical trial management for all the stakeholders involved.
Principal advantages:
- In the years 2016–2020, the Consortium took part in 52 commercial clinical trials, e.g. in multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy and myasthenia gravis.
- Establishing an Early Phase Centre will make it possible to support clinical trials of all phases (1 through 4) across a wide range of therapeutic indications.
