The Council of Ministers adopted a resolution to adopt the document "Government Biomedical Sector Development Plan for 2022-2031," submitted by the Minister of Health.
The goal of the plan is to develop the biomedical sector in Poland and for our country to become a leader in the biomedical sector in Central and Eastern Europe. The COVID-19 pandemic confirmed the need for a strong biomedical sector to support innovation, detection, analysis and monitoring of potential epidemiological threats.
Key objectives:
The main objectives of the plan are:
- Improve drug safety in Poland;
- Increasing the availability of innovative therapies for patients;
- improving the health status of patients;
- optimization of the health care system;
- developing the country's scientific and economic potential.
- The plan focuses on the needs of the healthcare sector, and its implementation focuses on finding solutions with the greatest commercialization potential and real impact on improving patients' health.
- Key developments in the biomedical sector include:
- targeted/personalized medicine;
- biologic drugs and innovative solutions in the area of generic drugs;
- translational medicine, clinical trials and solutions to support treatment efficiency;
- diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment support tools and rehabilitation.
The plan will be implemented by the Medical Research Agency.
- The institution will strive for the continuous development of the biomedical sector in Poland through 2031, and for our country to achieve a leadership position in the biomedical sector in Central and Eastern Europe.
- The Medical Research Agency will also strive to develop the first Polish innovative drug.
